“A fine solo trumpet” (The Boston Musical Intelligencer), Andrew Heath enjoys a vibrant career in the Boston area as a trumpeter, conductor, and educator. Joining the trumpet section of the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra in 2019, he performs with the Cape Ann Symphony, the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra, and the Canton Symphony Orchestra. Summers spent at orchestral festivals have included trips to Marrowstone, Chautauqua, and Aspen, where he was an Aspen Conducting Academy trumpet fellow in 2018. Outside of orchestral playing, Andrew has appeared as a soloist with the National Trumpet Competition in 2016 and 2017, and with the Brookline Symphony Orchestra on Tomasi’s Trumpet Concerto in 2018.
Andrew serves as Lecturer of Music at Saint Anselm College, in the role of trumpet studio instructor and director of bands. He is also Director of Bands at Lowell Catholic High School. In 2018, Andrew founded Mystic Brass Ensemble, were he serves as music director and conductor of the vibrant 25-piece ensemble, consisting of adult community and professional brass players. Recent performances have included full wind ensemble works, and his own arrangement of two of Strauss's Four Last Songs for brass, percussion, and soprano. He has also made guest appearances with the Dedham Community Band and the Brookline Symphony winds and brass.
Andrew is active in applied music education in longtime roles with the Wakefield Public Schools, and maintains a private studio of beginner to adult trumpet students. He enjoys working with young and experienced people to enrich their lives overall through music, to help them in becoming successful, contented individuals. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, Andrew also holds a Master of Music degree from New England Conservatory, and is currently a Graduate Certificate candidate in winds conducting at Messiah University. Andrew’s mentors and influences on the trumpet include George Vosburgh, Joe Foley, Tom Siders, James Pandolfi, Raymond Mase, Kevin Cobb, and Chuck Berginc.
